EVALUATION OF THE METSO PROGRAMME
The final evaluation and follow-up report of
the METSO Programme was
published 3 Nov 2006. It assessed the ecological, economical and social
impacts of the Programme. According to
the
evaluation, METSO proved
successful. The new voluntary conservation measures are well
suited to protection of forest biodiversity. - Read the

A new action and financing programme,
targeting to significant further improvement in forest
biodiversity, especially in Southern Finland, is under
preparation and will be presented to the Government in autumn
2007.
Research-based evaluation

The evaluation of METSO was backed up by
strong research on biodiversity
issues. in 6 Sept 2006, the
results were published in a 400-page book
"METSOn jäljillä" (Research report of the
Forest Biodiversity Programme for Southern Finland". -
